Archer is a city in Alachua County, Florida, United States. Archer, the first Secretary of State of Florida. ==History== Archer started in the 1840s as a frontier village named Deer Hammock By 1858, the Florida Railroad reached the village, then the site of the town was shifted eastward, and therefore christened Archer, after James T.
